Allah The Most High says: هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّ

“They are a garment for you, and you are a garment for them.”

A Garment Protects

Protect your spouse by fulfilling their needs and living up to your marital duties. People get married to have their needs for love met. Find out what are your spouses most important needs. Honor their requests as best as you can, and show them every day that you really care. Don’t let your things-to-do list come between your love.

A Garment Covers

Cover each other’s mistakes and weaknesses by forgiving sooner than later. Conflict doesn’t have to break your marriage apart. Seek to understand what happened, listen with compassion, empathize with your spouse’s feelings, and forgive immediately. Don’t prolong the tension such that it begins to slowly tear your bond apart. Patch up any holes with extra love. Make your relationship a tranquil refuge.

A Garment Adorns

Beautify your marriage with Prophetic character. The Prophet ﷺ is your role model of how to act and react in your marriage. The blessings in a marriage come from following his ﷺ beautiful ways. Speak gently, smile frequently, laugh often, offer your loving support, and serve one another. Inspire each other towards goodness by the way you treat each other.

A Garment Holds Tightly

Become one unit by connecting every day with a simple act of touch. Touch says what words cannot. Take care to send unlimited love messages to your spouse through hugs, kisses, holding hands, and the like. Don’t let go so soon. Hold on tight for as long as you can. Make tender touching a habit in your marriage.

A Garment Fits Just Right

Mold your marriage into a lifelong friendship by being a dependable companion. Your spouse is your other half. Together, you complete each other in the best of ways. Take care to show up in the relationship through the thick and thin. Demonstrate your concern for your spouse’s troubles and worries. The smallest act during the hard times can bring the biggest benefit to your marriage. Ask how your spouse is doing. Get them a cup of tea. Buy a sweet gift. Make them laugh. Let your presence be a source of comfort that quickly brings ease and joy to the other person’s heart.

May Allah Most High make us the best of garments for our spouses, Āmīn.
